Maintenance for decorative concrete varies by option.
Polished Concrete requires little maintenance due to the fact that the pores in the concrete have been closed; sealed and no topical coatings are trapping dirt and debris. Concrete floors of this nature need only be moped or burnished as needed depending on the environment and foot traffic. Periodically during the life of the floor a diamond impregnated pad can be used to refresh the highly polished finish and resealing may be needed every three to five years.
Acid Stained Concrete will require additional maintenance on a monthly, quarterly, semi annually or annually depending on foot traffic. Acid Stained Concrete is dependent on a coating to protect the finish of the floor and to produce a gloss or a shine. The coating used (wax or epoxy) is much softer than the concrete itself and is susceptible to scratching imbedded dirt and debris. Periodically the coating is removed, the floor is cleaned and the coating is then reapplied. This option most closely resembles maintenance required for VCT.
