Terrazzo is a floor system combining two parts marble fragments and one part portland cement or epoxy based bonding agent. A thin layer of the marble and cement/epoxy is poured onto an existing floor. After hardening the surface is then diamond polished to expose the marble chips and close the pores to ensure resistance to staining and absorption.

Terrazzo is making a strong come back due to its cost efficiency and aspects of material reuse. Terrazzo is commonly found during remodels, both commercial and residential hiding under carpet and other floor coverings. In most cases carpet glues and coverings can be removed to restore the terrazzo back to a like new finish.
